Marshall Robert Roofner's Obituary
Marshall Robert Roofner, born August 10, 1946, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2018. He grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Birmingham, Michigan. He was a life-long learner, earning several college degrees: Bachelors and Masters in Business Administration (BBA, MBA) in Finance and Accounting from The University of Michigan, Juris Doctor (JD) from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation and International Business from Southern Methodist University, as well as a CPA license. He was an accomplished accounting and tax professional that had a love for numbers and helping people see them clearly.Bob was an avid golfer, devoted husband, proud father, and loving grandfather. He found joy in making others laugh and expanding their knowledge on every subject imaginable, including the perfect golf swing. He was an active member of the United Methodist Church and took great pleasure in hearing his wife play the piano and sing in the choir. More often than not, you could find him in the library reading and sharing what he learned with others. He especially loved teaching his sons about sports, math, business, and life. Most importantly, he made sure they knew he was incredibly proud of them.He is predeceased by his parents, Marshall Ralph Roofner and Harriet Knight Roofner. He is survived by his wife Teresa Phelps Roofner, his sons Brian Andrew Roofner and Bradley Ryan Roofner, his daughters-in-law Emily Lamb Roofner and Sarah Jane Roofner, and his grandson Kayden Marshall Roofner, who is named in his honor.In remembrance, there will be a celebration of life in Shipp Chapel at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church on Monday, December 31, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Please join us as we celebrate the life of Bob Roofner.In lieu of flowers, his family has asked that contributions be made to The First Tee or the American Brain Tumor Association.
