Marta Corby's Obituary
Marta Corby (Nee Kaufman), 77, Carrollton, Texas, passed away May 5th, 2017. Born on December 8, 1939 in Ploiesti, Romania to Simon and Sara Kaufman. Marta always excelled in academics, and graduated university at the age of 19. She later received her PhD in Linguistics from Moscow State Linguistic University. Following this, she was a professor of Linguistics at Peter the Great Polytechnic University in St. Petersburg. Marta spoke seven languages throughout her life. After immigrating to the United States in 1978, she received a Masters Degree from Amber University. She worked as a programmer and systems analyst at various companies over the next 18 years. She married her husband, Alex Corby, in 1959 in Saint Petersburg, Russia. They had two children together, Inga and Victor. Outside of her successful career, she was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, often hosting dinners and parties. She will be missed by all. She is survived by her husband, Alex Corby; her son, Victor; her daughter-in-law, Siiri, and her grandchildren, Arye and Skylar. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
