Marta Maria Strzinek's Obituary
Marta Maria Strzinek passed peacefully after a brave fight with cancer on Thursday, May 13, 2021, at the age of 67 years in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born on Thursday, June 25, 1953 to Oscar Javier Gomez Peralta and Victorina “Elvira” Da Silva Cuellar in Montevideo, Uruguay.
Marta emigrated from Uruguay to the United States in 1971 to attend Stanford University, where she earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. Marta then began a successful career in management, sales, and education. Prior to her passing, she was an Enrollment Counselor at Western Governor’s University.
Marta was a devoted mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved to travel and lived in multiple cities throughout her lifetime, with especially fond memories of her years in Singapore. Marta was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, her faith central in her life. She was an avid Uruguay soccer and Dallas Cowboys fan, always defending her team. Marta was the definition of grace through adversity, always uplifting others despite her own trying circumstances. She impacted many with her love, sense of humor, and contagious smile. Everyone who knew her will remember her for her hugs and devotion to those she loved.
Marta will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Courtney Strzinek (Riley Dennis) of Enid, Oklahoma; sister Elvira Jaimes (Francisco) of Merced, California; nieces Elvira Gonzalez of Stockton, California, Natalia Monaco (Dominic) of Sonora, California, and Ana Gutierrez-Mahaffey (Nathan) of Los Angeles, California; and nephews Oscar Martinez, Pablo Martinez (Gracie Smith), and Diego Martinez of Sonora, California. She will be forever remembered by her sixteen great-nieces and great-nephews, and countless dear friends. Marta was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation for Marta will be held Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at 10:30 am, hosted by Valley View 2nd Ward at 4395 S. Albright Drive in Holladay, Utah. A celebration of Marta’s life will immediately follow in the Chapel.
Marta will be laid to rest on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at 2:00 pm in the Whispering Waters Mausoleum at Restland Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
