Martha Jean Clifton's Obituary
Martha Jean Clifton was born February 17, 1928, and died September 18, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband James (Jim) Clifton, her mother M. Elizabeth King Spears, her father Joseph C. Spears, her brother Joseph Spears and her sister Doris McKenzie. She is survived by her sons, Charles Clifton and Stephen Clifton both of Dallas and many nieces and nephews and brother in laws…so many people. Jean and her husband Jim founded Clifton Carpets in 1957. It continues to be a successful family business today due in great part to her diligence and support in the early years- all while raising her family. Jean had a great appreciation of art, antiques, and music. She was an accomplished quilter and gave a loving home to her many rescue animals. Her warmth, humor and beautiful smile will be missed by many. Graveside services will be at Restland, Friday, September 22 at 2 pm. Please make a donation to an animal rescue, a shelter of your choice in lieu of flowers. Jean would love that!! Louise Owens, our dear friend, will officiate for the family.
