Martha Lucille Gallier's Obituary
Martha Lucille Gallier, a Dallas resident since 1966, passed away June 25 at the age of 76. Born in 1950 in Beaumont, Texas, she was the daughter of Allen Francis Gallier and Lorraine Alford Gallier. She was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Eugene Edward (Gene) Furlong. She is survived by her two brothers, Theo Gallier (Tina) of Davis, California, and Greg Gallier (Susan) of Brookfield, Illinois, and by her niece, Audrey, and her nephew, Grant.
Martha graduated from Richardson High School in 1968. She went on to the University of Texas at Austin, where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She graduated from UT in 1972, then embarked on a career that would include partnership and presidency at a prominent Dallas advertising agency, followed by the co-founding of an independent advertising/PR agency.
Martha was often vivacious and always had a keen “sense of the moment” — a rare ability to observe and assess whatever might be going on and offer insightful input. All of which came naturally to her and enriched her personal life, her professional life, and her volunteer work, which included extensive involvement with the American Heart Association.
Martha was unfailingly loyal to family and friends. She cherished her relationships with her immediate family, the family she shared by her marriage to Gene, and close friends to whom she remained loyal for decades. And that loyalty was reciprocated, as her friends supported her through the ravages of Parkinson’s disease. Throughout, Martha retained her sense of humor and perceptiveness, just two of the many things about her that will be missed so deeply.
A memorial service is pending. Details will become available on the Restland web site (https://restlandfuneralhome.com) at a later date.
Donations in Martha’s name may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation (https://parkinson.org) or the American Heart Association (https://heart.org).
