Martha Frances Gilmore's Obituary
Martha Frances McArthur Gilmore (Frances), a long-time resident of Richardson, Texas, passed away on February 14, 2023. She was born in Idalou, Texas on March 28, 1924 to Charles Arthur and Minnie Crozier McArthur. She lived in Acuff, Texas and later in Southland, Texas, where she played on the Southland High School girls basketball team and later graduated in May 1941. She went to work for the V.A. in Lubbock, Texas, meeting her future husband there.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy G. Gilmore of Richardson, her daughter and son-in-law Susan P. and Jordan L. Ellington of Mancos, CO, and her grandchildren Jensen F. and Jarrett D. Ellington of Ann Arbor, MI. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Harry E. Gilmore, her brothers and sisters-in-law, Wilmoth C. and Helen Long McArthur and Allen A. and Louise Porter McArthur.
Frances was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Richardson where she worked in the Sunday School department for many years. She enjoyed traveling and watching the Dallas Cowboys. We are grateful for the love and support of our family and friends. We are also thankful for the help her caregivers provided as her mobility declined and the care and support from our Vitas Hospice nurse and aide.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, February 21, 2023 in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas, TX. Pastors Tracy Dophied and Gerald Ware officiating. Donations in lieu of flowers requested for the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
