Martha Sue McBrayer's Obituary
Martha Sue McBrayer passed away on September 13, 2016, at her home in Garland, Texas, following a courageous battle with cancer. Sue received her Masters Degree from Baylor University. She had been a teacher and principal in the Dallas Independent School District for 30+ years before her retirement. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Garland. Sue was born in Whitewright, Texas, on November 25, 1929, to Basil and Lucile Thomson. She is survived by her loving husband Thomas E. McBrayer; daughter Heather Minton and husband Mark of Benbrook, TX; son Pat Ekiss and wife Diane of Taylor, TX; daughter Mindy Lance and husband Pete of Durham, NC; son Mike McBrayer and wife Kelly of Richardson TX; sister Durelle Farmer, brother-in-law Aaron Thomas, and brother Basil Thomson and wife Margaret, all of Waco, TX; grandchildren J.T. Jacobson; Drew, Amanda and Matthew McBrayer; Andrew and wife Brittany Lance, Caroline and husband Cedric Wilson, and Gideon and wife Anna Lance; great grandchildren Jackson, Chloe and Claire; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Jane Thomas; brother-in-law Shuford Farmer; and grandson Alec Lewis. Visitation will be held Friday, September 16, from 6:00 to 8:00 at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas. The funeral service will be held Saturday, September 17, at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel at First Baptist Church of Garland, 801 W. Avenue D in Garland.
