Martha Slaughter's Obituary
Our loving mother, Martha Irene Hubbard Slaughter, passed from the arms of her children to the arms of the angels October 28, 2014 at Lindan Park Nursing home. She was born September 5, 1921 in Jackson, Mississippi and lived there until her marriage to David Peyton Slaughter, Jr. They moved to Dallas after World War II and had three children while living in Lakewood. She worked at Murray Carver Company for 30 years and was happy to retire to spend more time with her grand children and family. She was totally devoted to her children and grand children and leaves behind a tremendous legacy of love. She was a long time member of Northridge Presbyterian Church and the family wishes to thank the ministry and entire congregation for their loyalty and love over the years. She was predeceased by her parents, her two brothers, Bill Hubbard and Joe Hubbard and her former husband. She is survived by her children, Kathy Slaughter Beck, who she lived with for the last years of her life, David Peyton Slaughter III, Nancy White and son-in-law Rick White. The other loves of her life were grand children Ryan White and wife Kasia, Dr. Neill White, David Slaughter and wife Jennifer, Dr. Hollie Shirey Gray and husband Kyle. She took great joy in her great grandchildren, Riley and Mason White and Samantha Slaughter. She also cherished her sister-in-law Bobbie Hubbard and her nephews and nieces from the Hubbard and Slaughter families. Besides the endless loved she showed for everyone, she loved chocolate, had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed a good family party, although she never consumed alcohol. She was the best mother and grand mother on earth. The family also wishes to thank the administration and staff of Lindan Park Nursing and Rehabilitation facility for their loving care and assistance. The visitation for Martha Slaughter will be Friday, October 31, 2014 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home.
