Martha Gwynn Stanford's Obituary
Martha Gwynn Stanford, 85, of Dallas, Texas passed away July 14, 2017 in Richardson, Texas. She was born April 6, 1932 to Clarence Everett Whitaker and Lois Opal Whitaker in Breckenridge, Texas. They later moved to Cisco, Texas where Martha attended Cisco High School and was the Drum Major for the Lobos. After graduation, Martha attended Cisco Jr. College and then North Texas State University majoring in Library Science. Martha married Wayne Foster Stanford on December 22, 1951. She attended Lake Park Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Martha was a stay-at-home Mom, a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, a Cub Scout Leader and Room-mother. Martha was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wayne F. Stanford & her older brother, Don Whitaker. She is survived by her son, Michael Wayne Stanford & wife Susan “Hyatt” Stanford of Waco, “Woodway,” Texas, Daughter, Terry Gwynn Stanford- Jacobson & husband Benn Jacobson of Montecito, Ca., Daughter, Jo “Stanford” Bryan & husband, Jay Bryan, of Richardson, Texas, & Sister-n-law, Carol Whitaker of Allen, Texas. Grandchildren: Taylor Prentice, Christopher Stanford, Katherine Stanford, Jonathan Bryan, Jake Bryan, & Jacey Bryan. Great Grand-children: Maizy Stanford & Carys & Jensyn Prentice. Niece & Nephews: Steven Whitaker, Scott Whitaker, & Susan Henderson. Long-time beloved Caregiver for both Wayne & Martha, who will forever be part of our family: Mr. James Arthur, Caregiver: Zippy, who we could not have done without & who will forever be a new member of our family. ♡ Last, but not least, beloved Mini-Australian Shepherd, Sassy, who was a wonderful companion & friend to, Martha, in these last year’s of her life. Visitation: will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, July 21, 2017, (Wayne Stanford’s birthdate) at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 PM, Saturday, July 22, 2017, at the Restland Wildwood Chapel.
