Martha Frances Van Vleet's Obituary
Martha Frances Van Vleet passed away peacefully in her home on November 7, 2020. Frances was born in Harrison Georgia on January 16, 1926 and relocated with her family to Dallas Texas as a young girl. She moved to Irving in 1956 where she was an active member of First Baptist Church for over 50 years. She worked as a secretary and manager for Frito Lay, Russell Stover candies and then Firestone tires from which she retired. Frances' children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy and she traveled across Texas to attend countless concerts, games, and school events in their support. In her later years, Frances was active in her church senior adult group and volunteered with after school programs. Her love for Christ, witticisms, and good humor were an encouragement to all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter Jenkins and Mary Elma Vickery; brother David Jenkins; and sister, Evelyn Moore. She is survived by her loving family, daughter Elaine Adams and husband Dennis of Irving; son Mike Van Vleet and wife Sue of Hideaway; niece Jackie Floyd and husband Lynn of Plano; grandchildren, Tonya Rocco and husband Clint of Tyler; Christopher Adams of Dallas; Cpt. Jonathan Adams of Ft Hood; great-grandchildren Paige, Sean, Rachel, Brooke, and Annalise Rocco of Tyler; and other beloved family members.
