Martha Sue Wheat's Obituary
Martha Sue Wheat of Dallas, TX, departed to be with the Lord on March 18, 2010. She was born November 16, 1927 in Blooming Grove, TX, to Pinkney Ray and Minnie Elizabeth Harrell. Martha Sue was a proud graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, TX, and graduated in the class of 1945. She attended Texas State College for Women in Denton, TX from 1945-46 and returned to Dallas to marry Harry Van Coulen Wheat, III on October 17, 1946. While a mother of three she was very active in the Richardson PTA, and received the Texas Life PTA Membership Award in 1968. She also served as President from 1968-69. She retired in 1990 after 21 years as secretary to the Principal (running the school) from 1969-1990 at Forestridge Elementary. She was also involved in Book Club and attended classes at Eastfield College. The pride and joy of Martha Sue’s life was always her family. She is survived by her children: son Stephen V. Wheat and wife Lawanna, daughter Cerise S. Byrd and husband James, and son Tracey L. Wheat and wife Becky. Grand-children: Stefanie Cornelius, Shawn Byrd, Kevin Wheat, Ryan Wheat, Natalie Donovan and Eric Stegall.Great Grand-children: Avery Wheat, Emma Wheat, Justin & Cody Alexander, Taylor Cornelius & Halle Byrd, Ethan and Hailee Stegall.The family would like to thank the following: We are eternally grateful to the compassion and wonderful care Hospice provided, along with all the people connected with and associated to Greenway & Christian Care Center for the past year. Also, Dr. Comess & Doctors Caruso & Chittoor for your kind and compassionate care along with the staff at Texas Oncology. Louis Dixon for always being there at the right time, take good care of Lilly, Martha Sue’s watching! You were a godsend and we are truely grateful for the gift of friendship you provided. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in the name of Martha Sue Wheat to the Cancer Society. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. March 23, 2010 Tuesday at Restland Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday March 23, 2010 Restland Memorial Park.
