Martha Ruth Wheeler's Obituary
WHEELER, MARTHA RUTH Went home to be with our Lord on May 26, 2014. She was born on July 13, 1927 in Rusk County, TX to Jerome and Anna Lee. She is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, John E. Wheeler Jr. She is survived by her children, Janie Dauterive and husband, Jerry of Bristol, RI and John E. Wheeler III and wife, Brenda of Dallas. She is also survived by four beloved grandchildren, Holland Dauterive and husband, Steve, Justin Wheeler, Lauren Trayner and husband, Steven, and Addison Wheeler. Ruth was fourth oldest of 11 children. She is survived by sisters, Cetrue Linahan, Jo Dunham, Avis Powers, Hilda DeLaune; brothers, Travis Lee and wife, Marsha and Larry Lee. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents as well as a brother J.T. Lee; sisters, Doris Taylor, Evelyn Purnell and Murel Peake. Ruth is also survived by 31 nieces and nephews as well as numerous great nieces and nephews. Ruth was a faithful member of White Rock United Methodist Church where she was active as a choir member, Sunday school teacher and in United Methodist Women. She also volunteered in community programs for children with special needs. Ruth was loved and cared for by her family. Our family also wishes to deeply thank Mrs. Katherine Moore who helped Ruth in her last years. Katherine gave physical help and companionship and her love made Ruth’s life easier and happier. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, May 30, 2014 at Restland Memorial Park.
