Marvel Y. Austin's Obituary
AUSTIN, MARVEL Y., left this Earth to walk holding the hands of God August 6, 2014. She was born in Irving, Texas on August 27, 1930, graduated from Sunset High School, and married at Brooklyn Ave Methodist Church. She was 21 days from celebrating her 84th birthday and 29 days from her 60th wedding anniversary with Ernest Austin before her passing. Besides being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother Marvel had worked in the libraries of Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD as an aid and data processing clerk. She loved Texas A&M sports and the Texas Rangers, went to the games at the original stadium sitting behind the visitor dugout and continued to keep score of runs, hits, and errors during the games while listening to the radio broadcasts. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Farmers Branch since 1958. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Stella Mae Plumlee, survived by husband Ernest, sons Kenneth (Paula), Don (Cindy), Keith (Sheila) and grandchildren Maggie, Clint, Scott, Jake, Paul, Courtney, and Nik, siblings Jim, LaRue, Ralph. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm on Friday, August 8, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Restland Abbey Chapel.
