Mary Elizabeth Bichler's Obituary
BICHLER, MARY WALTON died peacefully on the morning of June 24th 2014. She was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on May 17th, 1926. Mary grew up in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin and attended college at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. She was very proud of her chapter, especially since Theta was founded at DePauw, and wrote countless recommendations for many outstanding young women desiring to become their best selves. At DePauw, she met her husband of 58 years, George Clark Bichler. She moved to Dallas with George in 1948. Along with her husband, Mary enjoyed the friendships forged in the national textile industry and the Dallas Coterie Club. She was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and served as head of the Altar Guild for many years. However, her real joy was being with her family and her sustained devotion to her husband and sons never waivered. Mary’s survivors include her two sons and their wives, James Clark Bichler and Kay, William Thomas Bichler and Jan; four grandchildren, Brandon Bichler of London, England, Linsley Smith of Dallas, Christopher and Brett Bichler, both of Allen, Texas; and four great grandchildren. Burial services will be held on Tuesday, July 15th at 10:00 AM at Restland Memorial Park for family members only. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia Clinic at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children.
