Mary Lou Booth's Obituary
Mary Lou Stroman was born March 17, 1927, and died Friday August 9 in Garland TX at the age of 97. She always said she wanted to live to be 100 and almost made it. She was born in Mount Pleasant TX to Claude Stroman and Ella Booth Stroman. She was one of five children.
She was married to Carl L Peteet and had 2 children, Judy and Jerry.
She owned a Beauty School in Irving and later retired and moved to Terrell TX and married Alton (Buddy) Booth. She loved the outdoors, and they would go on fishing trips and never came back empty handed.
She was a Christian and an active member of her church. She never met a stranger, and she loved a good joke.
Painting was her passion. She would paint on anything from rocks, saw blades, mirrors if it was sitting still, she would paint it. She would have a booth set up at local art festivals and sell her paintings to raise money for Leukemia.
She loved gospel music and listened to the Gaither’s right up to the end.
She is survived by her son Jerry and Karen Peteet from Garland, 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, as well as numerous Nieces’ and Nephews.
She loved life and always had a smile. She will remain in our hearts forever and will be missed.
Her Celebration of Life will be Saturday, August 17, visitation at Noon and service at 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church in Garland 801 W Ave D in the Cockrell Chapel (entrance on Ninth Street.)
Her final resting place will be at Restland, no graveside service.
