Mary Ellen Bruce's Obituary
BRUCE, MARY ELLEN CROFT, of Dallas, Texas passed away on Monday, July 9, 2007 at the age of 101. She was born April 30, 1906 in Pembrook, Virginia to Bertrand and Myrtle Croft who preceded her in death as well as her sister Anna Josephine Croft and brothers Paul Bertrand Croft and Armand Powell Croft. She is survived by nephew Paul B. Croft, Jr. and wife Ruth L. Croft and their sons Major Eugene M. Croft, AF, Robert Lee Croft and Paul B. Croft III and by Margaret Croft, wife of deceased brother Armand Powell Croft. Mary Ellen was a descendant of the Crofts in Wales British Isles. She was an accountant with Southland Life in Dallas, Texas for 34 years and also served as a substitute teacher. She was a fantastic carpenter and craftsman and loved cooking, working jigsaw puzzles and reading, especially the Bible. She was raised in the Episcopal Church. In 1998 she was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and attended both the Walnut Hills and White Rock Congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Mary Ellen’s many friends will dearly miss her, her warm hospitality and quick wit. Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 13, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Restland with Robert Bruce Lane, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2007 from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
