Mary Louise Carrell's Obituary
Mary Louise Carrell, 94, of Dallas, Texas, died May 9th. She was born on October 8, 1924, to Ward Blaylock and Helen Scott in Galveston, with a heart defect which should have kept her from living; but her will to live was so strong that she lived well past her 94th birthday. In the fall of 1942, she married the love of her life, Bruce Ellis Carrell, known affectionately to all as Tubby, in San Diego. She worked in the life insurance industry during most of her career and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her only child, Anne Camille Carrell of Dallas.She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister, Marie Black, stepfather, Ray Duvall, many aunts and uncles, her cousin, Burnettie and great-great-nephew, Quinn. Other survivors are her nephew Ken Black of Dallas and his wife, Vicki; niece Laurie Wicker and husband Garet of Minneapolis; two great-nephews and a niece and their spouses, and seven great-great nephews and nieces, all of whom she adored.The family is grateful for the beautiful care given to Mary at Faith Presbyterian Hospice in the last week of her life and asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be given to support their work at 12477 Merit Drive, Dallas, Texas 75251, and may go to www.faithpreshospice.org to do so.Funeral services provided by Restland, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75243. Open viewing times include Sunday from 1 to 7 p.m. and Monday from 10 to 1:30. The funeral service will be Monday, May 13th, at Restland at 3 in the Wildwood Chapel. Graveside service will follow immediately.
