Mary M. Chancellor's Obituary
CHANCELLOR, MARY M. passed away on July 14, 2013 at Highland Springs Retirement Community where she and her husband Don lived for 6 plus years. She was born in Mt. Pleasant, Texas in 1938. She was preceded in death by parents Joe and Ruth Black. After graduating from Mt Pleasant High School, she attended Texas State College for Women in Denton, now Texas Woman’s University, where she received her B. S. degree. She did graduate study at SMU, University of Dallas, and the University of North Texas where she received her M. S. degree. She taught advanced math for most of her career at Bryan Adams High School in Dallas from 1963 to 1995. She is survived by her dearest friend and husband of 41 years Don D. Chancellor, two sons Robert and his wife Denise Edmonson and Mark and his wife Marie Edmonson, Lee Ann Edmonson, 4 grandsons, 2 great grandsons and 1 great grand daughter, two very special long time friends and fellow teachers, Donna P. Hanes and Carol L. Scott, as well as many other special friends from our church and the Highland Springs Retirement Community. We especially wish to express our profound thanks to Drs. Mary Norman and Theresa Eichenwald at Highland Springs for their tender loving care and concern while Mary dealt with cancer. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gama, Dallas Retired Teachers, and a longtime member of Spring Valley United Methodist Church and the Beacon Class. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM, Friday, July 19, 2013 at Restland Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Spring Valley United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Organ Fund at Spring Valley United Methodist Church at 7700 Spring Valley Rd. Dallas, TX 75254-2840.
