Mary R. Cleland's Obituary
Age 91, Cherished Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, and Aunt (Au-Me). Mary passed away on July 28, 2016 and she was preceded in death by her husband, M.C. Cleland and son, Michael, parents, Carl and Atrel Ragdale, and brother, James Ragsdale. She was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma and graduated from Daniel Webster High School and attended Central State College. She married M.C. Cleland in 1946, as M.C. always said, he fell in love with the cute freckled face girl singing in the choir. She worked in the insurance industry in Tulsa. Mary and M.C. had a daughter Cathryn and a son, Michael. They moved to Dallas in 1955 and became members of Walnut Hill United Methodist Church. Mary was very active chairing in many organizations, with the PTA, Garden Club, Book Club, and church, and also loved to play 2-piano pieces with a dear friend. Mary began to work for Collins Radio in Richardson, Texas, in 1966, and retired in 1985 as the Employee Benefits Manager of Rockwell-Collins. Mary is survived by her Daughter and Son-in-law, Cathy and Scott Williams; Grandchildren, Jimmy Lange, Robert and Linda Lange, Shawn and Severine’ Williams, Christa Williams; and her precious Great-Grandchildren, Weston and Evelyn Lange, and Chloe’ Williams; her sister and brother in law, Susan and Trent Hamlin, and her sister-in-law, Emma Ragsdale, and treasured nieces and nephews. She poured her love into the lives of her children and family. Family Visitation will be at Restland Funeral Home, 6-8 pm on Sunday July 31, 2016; Graveside service 1:30 pm Monday, August 1, at Restland Memorial Park with Memorial Service following at 3:00 pm, Walnut Hill United Methodist Church, 10066 Marsh Lane, Dallas. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243. Memorials may be made to “Ark House”, P.O. Box 833656, Richardson, TX 75083 in memory of Mary Cleland.
