Mary Alice Cook's Obituary
Mary Alice Cook, of Wylie, Texas was born November 21, 1928 in Celina, Texas. She was the daughter of Earl and Zina Mae Tillerson and passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2023.
She married Robbie Leonard Cook on March 2, 1946.
Mary is remembered by her devotion to her husband and children. She was an excellent homemaker, seamtress, and gardner. She was a very dignified lady that also had a fun and feisty side that family and friends adored.
As a young teenager Mary was an accomplished pianst, winning several state awards, was in the high school band and played sports. As an adult she was a member of Colonial Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, taught many years of Vacation Bible School, helped feed the youth group and went on mission trips with the youth department.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Zina Mae Tillerson, her loving spouse, Robbie and two sons-in-law, David Southerland and P.D. Thomas.
She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Southerland, Diane Thomas and Brenda Kirby and son-in-law Gary Kirby.
She has 8 grandchildren, Nathan Southerland of Colorada, Carrie Flemming of South Carolina, Daniel Southerland of Texas, Erik Thomas of Noth Carolina, Valerie Hollis of Texas, Kristi Thomas of Texas, Adam Kirby of Virgina and Laura Freeman of Louisianna. She had 7 wonderful in-law grand children that she loved as her own; Debbie Southerland, Erik Flemming, Le'Anne Southerland, Megan Thomas, Jon Hollis, Caitlin Kirby and Jared Freeman.
She had 10 great grandchildren, Will Southerland, Baylee Southerland, Charolette Southerland, Cara Flemming, Libby Flemming, Ellie Flemming, Brody Hollis, Lilyana Hollis, Blakely Thomas and Easton Thomas.
Visitation for Mary Alice Cook will be Monday, August 14, 2023 at 9:00 AM in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. A Service will be Monday, August 14, 2023 at 10:00 AM in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home.
