Mary Beth Copeland's Obituary
Copeland, Mary (Beth) Garrett ~ Our beloved Mom/ Gram/Beth passed away Feb 20, 2011 after some medical problems that resulted in having her leg amputated. Beth is survived by her children: Carol Chapman and David Copeland and his wife Terri, 4 grandchildren, 1 great grandson, a sister-in-law: Patsy Henderson and her husband Tom and 11 nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband Ben Copeland, her son James, three brothers R.T. Garrett, Morgan Garrett, and Leonard Garrett and 1 sister Dorothy Garrett. Beth was born in Stephenville, Texas June 13, 1932. She attended Tarleton State College and graduated with a Bachelor and Master’s Degree from Texas Women’s University. She was a member of Alpha Chi Omega and Phi Upsilon Omicron. She taught at TCU and Queens College in Charlotte NC. She worked as a Dallas County home demonstration agent. After her children were older, she worked as a demonstration agent for Cuisinart and Amana. Beth has been very active in Spring Valley United Methodist Church including teaching at vacation Bible School and working at their bazaar. She was also been active in a Garden Club and a book club. There will be visitation/viewing at Restland Funeral Home at 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas TX 75243 at 6-8 PM, Wednesday 2/23/11. A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at Spring Valley United Methodist Church 7700 Spring Valley Rd, Dallas, TX at 10 AM, Thursday 2/24/11. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to United Cerebral Palsy in Beth’s name.
