Mary Avie Copeland's Obituary
Mary Avie Copeland, 92, passed away on October 24, 2020. She was born on February 29, 1928 in Wood County, Texas to the late Bernice (Goolsby) and Grover T. Copeland.
Mary worked for AT&T (previously Southwestern Bell) for 34 years. During that time she enjoyed being with family and friends, travel, bowling and volunteering. She was very active in the AT&T Pioneers, Dallas Life Council. She worked tirelessly on “Hug A Bears” to make stuffed toys for policemen to carry in their cars for children that were traumatized. She helped assemble the Spotlighter newsletter, made peanut brittle to sell at the fund raisers, delivered and read personalized books to children all over the Metroplex and helped deliver food to various food banks. She never said no when asked to volunteer. Mary was an incredible person who was loved dearly and will be missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church Building Fund, 1200 Country Club Road, Ennis, Texas 75119.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Grover and Bernice Copeland; sister, Thelma Stanley; brothers, Aaron, G.T. and O.K. Copeland; an a niece, Mickey Palos.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Bernice Phelps (Sonny), Beverly Copeland, Jerry Don Bassinger (Sandy), and Glen Copeland (Janice).
Graveside Service is 11:00am Friday October 30, 2020 at Restland Memorial Park.
