Mary Ellen Smith Crenshaw, a beloved resident of Pottsboro, Texas, passed away on September 13, 2024, at the age of 82. Born on February 16, 1942, in Denison, Texas to William Clifford and Senna Ellen (Shoemaker) Smith, Mary Ellen was one of four children.
Mary’s life was a testament to her love for the outdoors and her many hobbies. She found joy in fishing, crafting, crocheting, sewing, knitting, and solving puzzles. Her passion for Candy Crush was well-known among her friends and family. She also enjoyed cruising around in her golf cart and cherished the companionship of her pets.
A fiercely independent woman, Mary took pride in working on her own cars and handling mechanical tasks whenever she could. Her determination and self-reliance were admired by all who knew her.
Mary was a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys, never missing a game and always cheering for her favorite team. Her enthusiasm for life and her many interests brought joy to those around her.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, William and Senna, and her siblings, Viva Smith, Louise Meacham, and Clifford Smith, Jr.
She is survived by her children, Sandra Cernoch, Wesley Crenshaw, Jr., and Judy Crenshaw; her grandchildren, Christopher Mulno, Christie Vu, Tina Vu, Charles Crenshaw, Blake Crenshaw, and Miranda Daley; her many great-grandchildren, and her numerous nieces and nephews.
Her legacy of independence, creativity, and love for the simple pleasures in life will continue to inspire those who knew her. Rest in peace, Mary. Your spirit and zest for life will never be forgotten.
