Mary Frances (Cunningham) Pratt's Obituary
Mary Frances (Cunningham) Pratt, 77, of The Woodlands, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2015. She was born September 29, 1937 in Dallas, Texas to James Roy Cunningham and Ola Harris Frazier. Raised in Dallas, Mary Frances graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1954. She graduated from Southern Methodist University with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Math and Spanish and was a proud member of Phi Beta Kappa, Kappa Mu Epsilon and Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Societies. Mary Frances married her beloved husband, Leland Hobbs Pratt, on June 14, 1958 in Dallas, Texas. They were married 55 years. Together they had three children, Dawn, Johnathan, and Richard. Mary Frances was an accomplished pianist. For many years she volunteered her time and talent with choral groups performing at a myriad of venues as well as accompanying the children’s, youth, and adult choirs at church. She was an avid movie buff who rarely failed to name the actors in any movie she watched. She and Leland were longtime supporters of both the Houston Grand Opera and Austin Lyric Opera. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband, Leland, both in the U.S. and abroad. Mary Frances is preceded in death by her parents Roy and Ola Cunningham and her husband, Leland. Mary Frances is survived by her children Dawn Derr (husband Douglas) of The Woodlands, Texas, Johnathan Pratt (wife Jennifer) of East Chatham, New York, and J. Richard Pratt (Carolyn) and their children Paul, Ruth, John and Yulia Pratt of Dickinson, Texas. Mary Frances’s family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at The Forum at The Woodlands Retirement community and her caregivers for the wonderful care they provided during her residence. Service will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at 12:30 PM at the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army of which Mary Frances was longtime supporter.
