Mary Ruth Curtis' Obituary
Mary Ruth “Toogey” McCarthy Curtis, 80, of Dallas went to her Heavenly home and into the Lord’s loving embrace on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Baylor Hospital. Mary was born to the late Mabel and John McCarthy on August 27, 1936, in Vicksburg, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, James Manson Curtis, Sr., her precious son, James “Jimmy” Manson Curtis, Jr. She is survived by her children, Deborah Ann Carona, Mary Margaret and Michael Trent Scarborough Sr, Susan Victoria Curtis, John Joseph and Sheila Hampton Curtis, seven beloved grandsons, seven great grandchildren, loving sisters, Pat and Mike Sweeney of Colorado, Sara Cline of Colorado, her brother Bart and Susan McCarthy of California and extended family members. Mary was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dallas and on staff of the Music Ministry for many wonderful years. She retired from the Haggar Clothing Company after 21 years of service. Without a doubt, however you knew Mary, either as Mom, “Toogey”, co-worker or friend she will be remembered by her love for the Lord, kindness, humor and beautiful smile. Visitation will be at 12:00 noon, Tuesday, August 30th with the Funeral Service to follow at 1:00pm, First Baptist Church of Dallas, Truett Chapel. Private Family Graveside service at Restland. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Children’s Choir Ministry, First Baptist Church of Dallas.
