Mary Ann Douglas' Obituary
Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort in knowing that Mary Ann Douglas is now in the presence of her Savior, experiencing the eternal peace and joy she so faithfully believed in. Mary Ann went to be with her Lord on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at the age of 67. Mary Ann was a devoted daughter, sister, friend, and a pillar of faith in her community.
Born on June 5, 1956, in DeKalb, Mississippi, Mary Ann came to know and love Jesus, while being raised in the DeKalb Baptist Church where her father was a Deacon. She was a steadfast believer in Christ, and her life was a testament to her strong Christian values. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and inspiring those around her.
She pursued her passion for design and graduated from Mississippi State University before making her home in Dallas, Texas.
Mary Ann was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church in Dallas, where she served in various capacities, including the Adult Choir and Chapel Choir. Her commitment to her faith and her church was evident in her service. She touched countless lives with her kindness, wisdom, and generosity.
Mary Ann’s professional life was as remarkable as her personal one. She dedicated nearly 45 years of her career to Weir's Furniture, where she became a beloved and respected figure among both clients and colleagues. Her commitment to excellence, her warm personality, and her unwavering work ethic made her a favorite among those she served. Clients consistently praised her for her exceptional design service, often returning specifically to seek her assistance. Her legacy at Weir's Furniture is marked by countless friendships and a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
In Mississippi, she was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred & Robert Clay Kilpatrick, and by her brother, Robert Van Kilpatrick. She is survived by her chosen family in Dallas, and a multitude of friends she met along the way.
Family & friends are invited to gather and honor her memory at a celebration of Mary Ann’s life on Sunday afternoon, June 2, 2024, at 3:00 in the Truett Chapel of First Baptist Church, Dallas. Parking will be available in the Ross Garage.
