Mary Lou Ekiss' Obituary
Mary Lou Ekiss was born on July 16th, 1933 in Cooper, Texas and left this world too early on July 26th, 2015 in Dallas, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Eva Edwards; her spouse, John Patton; 3 siblings, Geneva, Betty and Charles; and a loving pekingese baby, Kakes. Mary Lou is survived by a son, C. Ekiss; her sister, M. Morgan; and numerous nephews and nieces. Mary Lou worked her entire professional career at Dr. Pepper Company, spanning over fifty years of service. It was there she met her husband, J.P. Ekiss, married and raised a son. She was a compassionate caregiver in life and was always willing to help someone in need. Mary Lou relished the simple pleasures in life…most nice days you would find her pulling weeds in a big floppy hat or nurturing and fostering her seedlings in her ever expanding garden after retirement. Looking at her you would not know she was the most enthusiastic Dallas Stars fan you would ever meet. Her love of the game was infectious, and she would not miss a game. She soon became an almanac of player statistics and facts. One of her self-confessed joys in life was to kiss Lord Stanleys’ Cup knowing her favorite player had done the same the year before. Mary Lou grew up around animals and had a great affection for them. She loved dogs especially and would take every opportunity to spoil them terribly. Later in life she enjoyed volunteering with a local dog rescue group. A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held at 3:00 pm on September 30, 2015 at Restland Wildwood Chapel. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers or gifts, memorials may be made to dfwrescueme.org.
