Mary Katherine (Ten Eyck) Forrester
Mary Katherine ‘Kathy’ was the daughter of Jim and Louanne Ten Eyck and was born on December 27, 1960, in Dallas, Texas and passed on to eternal peace on July 31, 2022, at Faith Presbyterian Hospice Hospital. She was 61 years old. She died from complications of end stage kidney disease.
She was the second oldest child of five and grew up in a big, lively, immediate family. She graduated from Corsicana High School in 1979 where she was on the swim team. She attended Texas Tech University.
Her family moved quite a bit to different cities including cities Tacoma, Bellevue and Mt. Vernon, Washington; and Corpus Christi, Corsicana and Beaumont, Texas; then to Calgary, Alberta, Canada; and back to Corsicana and then Dallas, Texas.
Kathy worked for UNICEF, the Susan Komen Foundation, and the North Texas Food Bank. She wanted to do good and always gravitated to work for charities. Along the way she made many great friends both in work and school. Kathy was known for her hearty laugh, enthusiastic sense of humor, and loyal friendship. Her friends were friends for life. She was a patient listener to all with unwavering support for whomever required it.
Kathy was so brave struggling with mental illness most of her adult life. She tried so hard to overcome this difficult disease. Her parents gave her resolute support through these trying times. She is now released from suffering and with her dear mother in heaven, who only passed away two months ago.
Kathy is preceded in death by her grandparents Eunice B. and George E. Christensen and Thelma and Charles Ten Eyck and her mother, Louanne Ten Eyck. She is survived by her resolute, and loving father, Jim Ten Eyck, and her siblings – Christine Ten Eyck (Gary Deaver) of Austin, Charlie (Amy), Jay (Becky), Rosemary (David Self), of Dallas. Nieces and nephews include Alison, Colton, Jeffrey, Tyler, Ryan, James, Brooke, Anna and Jason, Adam, and Hudson.
A celebration of Kathy’s life will be held in Dallas at Northway Christian Church at 7202 W. Northwest Highway on Saturday, August 13th at 10:00am with a reception afterwards. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), the National Kidney Foundation or Northway Christian Church.
A family graveside service will be at Restland at 9am August 12th and a memorial service and reception at Northway Christian Church at 7202 West Northwest Highway, Dallas, TX 75225 at 10 am on August 13th.
