Mary Oleta Hamje, 93, Passed away on September 21, 2019 at her residence in Red Oak, Texas.Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm on October 8, 2019 at Restland Wildwood Chapel.Funeral services will be held on October 8, 2019 at 3:00 pm at Restland Wildwood Chapel, located at 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX. Burial will follow.Oleta was born in Tahoka, TX to Essie Green Taylor and Lillie May Lee on April 18,1926 and grew up in Snyder, Texas. She married John Truman Walker on June 27, 1951 and had two children Stephen Michael Walker born April 22, 1951 and Karen Kay Walker born May 22, 1956. After Truman’s passing in 1973, she married John Francis Hamje II on October 18,1980 and they were married for 19 years. Oleta was the Head Rate Clerk/ Supervisor at Sentry Insurance Company for 32 years and was a member of Club 25 where she loved to ballroom dance.Oleta is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Pearl Nettles and Luvenia Fowler and her husbands Truman Walker and John Hamje.Oleta “Granny O” is survived by her son Stephen Walker of Red Oak, TX, Daughter Karen Roberts of Lubbock, TX, brother John Taylor and wife Linda of O’brien, TX, two sisters Sue Cotton and husband Tommy of Snyder, TX and Edith Dawson of Calorodo City, TX, grandson Richard Walker and wife Dominique of Red Oak, TX, grandaughter Buffy Hagood Cape Coral, FL, great- grandchildren Kayla and Lauren Hagood, and step-children.Pallbearers will be Richard Walker, Shawn Stewart, William Duckworth, and John Herring,The family of Oleta wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Denise Walker with Harbor Hospice, Kelly Edwards with Encompass, and Brooke Southard, former aid at Midtowne Assisted Living.
