Mary M Hamner's Obituary
Mary Maxine Hamner was born in Edinburg, Indiana on August 20, 1927 to the parents of Omer and Elizabeth Owens. She was next to the youngest of ten children. She graduated high school and married Billy Gene Hamner. They had three children, Bill, Wayne and Cathy. The family moved to Texas in 1952 and lived for a short while in Oak Cliff before moving to Farmers Branch. Maxine got a job at Eastman Kodak where she worked for 30 years. After retirement she and her husband sold their home and moved to Pharr, Texas. They were members of the Avion Travelcade where they traveled all over the USA and Canada in their travel trailer, making two trips to Alaska. She loved her Avion family. After the death of her first husband Billy, Maxine continued to pull her trailer and travel. Through the travel club she met and married Gene Mire. They continued to travel until the death of Gene. Maxine or Aunt Max to her nieces and nephews loved music, sewing and cooking. Maxine loved her family and always enjoyed family dinners and family reunions. She especially loved making candy with her son-in- law Buzz and grand daughter Stacy and in the past seven years at Christmas time she would make candy and cookies with her great grand daughter Olivia. Maxine had recently moved to Arlington, Texas to live with her daughter Cathy and son-in-law Buzz. Maxine had a strong faith in Jesus, her Savior and lived life with humility, grace and always with love. She is preceded in death by her husband, Billy G. Hamner and Gene Mire, sons, Lawrence (Bill) and Wayne Hamner, daughter-in-law Marla Hamner, two grand daughters, Roberta (Robbie) and Tisha Hamner, parents, Omer and Elizabeth Owens, sisters, Mabel, Mildred, Lucille, Margaret, Marjorie, Stella, Roseanne, and brothers, Donald and Louis. She is survived by her daughter, Cathy and son-in-law Buzz Murphy and grand daughter Stacy and husband Robert Curry and a great grand daughter Olivia Leigh Curry, adopted grand daughter Lisa and husband Keith Varrato and adopted grandsons Gregory and Brian Sargeant, along with loving nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends and family on Friday, October 9, 2015 from 6:00PM – 8:00PM at Restland Funeral Home. Services will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 11:00AM at St. Barnabas United Methodist Church in Arlington, TX. Burial will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 3:30PM at Restland Memorial Park.
