Mary Helen Mahan's Obituary
Mary Helen Phillips Mahan was born in DeKalb, Texas, to Roy Phillips and Christine Calvit Phillips on June 15, 1925. She passed away peacefully on January 4, 2016. In August 1951 she married James Matthew Mahan. They had one daughter, Cynthia Kay. She worked as an insurance clerk for Transport Insurance Co. until 1985 when she retired. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting in her spare time, and she loved the Texas Rangers. Mary Helen was preceded in death by her husband, James; parents, Roy and Christine Phillips; and brother, Doyle Calvit Phillips. She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia and husband, John Wolcott; grandson, Justin and his wife, Laurel Wolcott, great-granddaughter, Charlotte Wolcott; sisters, Janis Fox and Francis Zapp; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of Prestige Estates Assisted Living and Memory Care, Tyler, Texas, for the love that was given to her while she lived there. Graveside service will be held Thursday, January 7, 2016 at 1:30 PM at Restland Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
