Mary Ann Houpy's Obituary
Mary Ann Houpy, of Dallas, Texas, died at the age of 93. She was born to Ladon and Mary Hubacek Houpy on March 5, 1931. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Charles Ladon, Jr.
She attended Holy Trinity Parochial School and graduated from North Dallas High School in 1949. She attended Richland College while working for SBC and in 1979 did obtain an Associate's Degree in Arts and Science.
Mary Ann was an employee of Southwestern Bell Telephone Company (SBC) where she retired from their accounting department after 32 years of service. After retirement from SBC, she worked for Merchant's State Bank in their Loan Department. Later, she was employed by Comerica Bank where she worked in their Collateral Department until she retired in 1994. Also, Ms. Houpy was in the Marine Reserves serving in their Administrative Platoon from 1956-1959. She ventured out into several fields, but her real interest was working as a real estate broker selling East Texas land with her best friend Peggy Lipscomb. She worked for Century 21 Judge Fite Realtors in their land office, then later, for Tex-Lands Realty. She also worked for several years for herself as M.A. Houpy Realty.
Mary Ann was a free spirit who loved to laugh and enjoyed making others laugh. She was young at heart and never seemed to let age keep her from doing what she wanted to do! Her favorite saying was, "there is still a few howls left in this old doggie!" Mary Ann loved her Collies and always had one as a companion.
She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Telephone Pioneers of Texas, and Texas Board of Realtors. Mary Ann will be sadly missed and warmly remembered by her close friends, family, and Collies.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Dallas SPCA.
