Mary Lou Jones' Obituary
Jones, Mary Buford passed away July 31, 2011 at Presbyterian Hospital after a brief illness. Mary was born August 18, 1928 and spent her childhood on a farm near Jarrell, TX and graduated from Brackenridge High School in San Antonio. Mary attended the University of Texas and graduated with a B.A. in journalism in 1949. While there, she was a member of Theta Sigma Phi Sorority and Mortar Board. After graduating, Mary moved to Dallas where she was employed for 35 years by De Golyer and Mac Naughton, ,international petroleum consultants. Mary retired in 1993 as an assistant vice president and office manager. Mary was a longtime active member of Highland Park UMC and the Wesleyan Fellowship Sunday school class. Mary was a sweet and generous lady who had many good friends and interests. She particularly enjoyed attending the Tate lecture series, reading, traveling and learning new things. Mary was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and had a longtime interest in studying geneology and family history. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Robert Jones; sister, Milly Sybert; nephew, Robert Cotham; niece, Nancy Armes; a great niece; and several great nephews. Visitation will be from 6-8pm, Wednesday, August 3rd at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be held Thursday, August 4th at 10:00am at Highland Park UMC, 3300 Mockingbird Lane Dallas in Dallas. Interment in Salado Cemetery, Salado.
