Mary was born Mary Sacoulas on March 27, 1931 in Hopewell Township, Pennsylvania to her parents Michael and Stamatia Sacoulas. She was the first of four siblings. Mary said she was spoiled with love, Greek cooking, and sweets! Mary enjoyed her childhood in Pittsburgh, PA. Mary had 4 sons, two born in Pittsburgh, PA and her twins born in Long Beach, CA where she had relocated in the mid 1960’s. She was a woman of many talents as anyone who enjoyed her stories have heard about her photography career in the New York City’s Greek nightclubs in the 1950’s and 1960’s, owning a photography studio in NYC, owning restaurants in Tuscon, AZ and Long Beach, CA, returning to college and earning a Masters Degree in English from California State University Long Beach in 1978. Her love of literature and books and especially Shakespeare were always brought into any conversation she could share. After her retirement from being an 11th and 12th Grade English teacher and being a Telephone Operator for GTE she relocated to Southlake, TX. She was well known for her Greek cooking and sharing of recipes, Mary was known to plan for holiday meals many months in advance. She was an integral member of her son Billy’s home, living there for 18 years caring for granddaughter Daniella and enjoying the addition of Trifon and Georgia to her loving home all the while cooking and telling stories to the next generation.
Mary will be most missed by her sons Michael and twins Teddy and Billy, daughter in laws Lindsay, Barbie, Stephanie, Andrea, Diana, and grandchildren: Anastasia, Heather, Alec, Nicholas, Evelyn, Jasmine, Daniella, Trifon, Georgia.
