Mary Keith's Obituary
Mary Ruth James (Keith) Ogurtsov passed away peacefully in Dallas, Texas on May 17th, 2019 surrounded by her loved ones. Mary was born on November 4, 1932 to her loving parents, John “Jesse” and Ruth James (Snitkin) in Dallas, TX.Mary graduated from St. Edwards Academy in Dallas in 1949. She loved Dallas and frequented White Rock Lake during her early years back when swimming there was allowed. She married and had five children who were subsequently raised in the Lake Highlands community in Dallas. Mary’s adventurous spirit led her to live many places other than Dallas including South Texas, El Paso, California, Washington, Maui and even Russia. She always wanted to return to Hawaii. Maui was her “paradise”.Mary’s careers varied. They included Administrative Assistant, Horticulturist, Model, Entrepreneur, Realtor, and Management. Mary loved the outdoors. She loved to camp, hunt, fish and even snow ski. Although her travels took her away from Dallas, her roots were there, and she always returned.Mary was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, mentor and friend. Mary’s life was family, and she was happiest when surrounded by them. Mary’s idea of family was certainly not limited to relatives. Her “extended family” not only included her countless friends, but also the friends of her children, grandchildren and so many cousins. Her reach and love affected people across the nation. Her deep kindness was immediately felt by everyone who met her. If you did not know Mary, that is a loss. If you did know Mary, you are feeling a much greater loss.In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her three sisters Betty Hamra, Patricia Davenport, Teresa Williford and her granddaughter Jennifer Long. She is survived by her spouse, Igor Ogurtsov, and her children, Lightning Claudia Davis (John), Roy Cox III, Barbara Long (Ed), Teresa Sleeper (Jack) and James Cox (Bonnie), stepchildren Tom Neiman Jr. (Liz) and Natasha Ogurtsov, eleven grandchildren, and seventeen great grandchildren.Mary’s memorial service will be held on Friday, May 31, 2019 at 3:00 pm in the Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home followed by a celebration of her life in the Reception Hall at Restland.
