Mary Elizabeth Kennedy's Obituary
KENNEDY, MARY ELIZABETH DUPREE Born March 28, 1920 to Lucile May Baker and Henry Louis DuPree in 1920 in San Antonio, Texas. She graduated from University of Texas at age 19 with a double major in English and Spanish. She married Marcus Robert Kennedy of Greenville in 1941.They raised four children, Marcus Robert Kennedy Jr. of Kingston Oklahoma, Henry DuPree Kennedy of Naples, Florida, David Paul Kennedy of Canyon Lake, Texas, and Kathy Kennedy Bayer of Lake Jackson, Texas. Mary’s daughters-in-Iaw, Faye Kennedy and Pam Kennedy, son in taw Michael Bayer:7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren. Mary devoted herself to her husband Marcus of 49 years, her children, grand and great grandchildren, many friends, She was loved by all who knew her, long time friends or a stranger she just met. She was known for her smile, her love of friends, her love of games, laughter, her love of Gods creatures and nature. She retired from teaching in 1981 from the Garland Public Schools. Marcus and Mary enjoyed retirement, visiting their family and their retirement home at Lake Texoma they called WhisperWoods near their oldest son and wife, Mark and Faye. Mary attended Richardson Heights Baptist church for 44 years and loved her Sunday School Class. She volunteered at the Dallas Arboretum in the Degoyer Estate. Mary loved to travel and plan trips with family and friends. Mary wanted all to know that she did not die, she “just went home!” In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary Kennedy’s name to the Dallas Arboretum educational programs to continue encouraging young people to love Gods beautiful earth. Mary will be dearly missed by all. They loved her laughter and positive encouragement and compliments Mary gave to all. Mary loved her grand and great grandchildren! She encouraged creative thinking, and a love of reading and daily learning and a life serving and loving the Lord. Know that she believed in God’s promise of providing a heavenly home for us and that she has just “gone home!”. Visitation will be from 3:00-5:00PM, Sunday, April 29, 2012 at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 2:00PM, Monday, April 30 at Restland Abbey Chapel.
