Mary Ann Kraft's Obituary
Mary Ann Kraft passed away on December 10, 2019 in Dallas, Texas. She was born the youngest of four children to August C. and Martha Pickens Kraft on December 27, 1940, in Goosecreek (Baytown), Texas and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School. Upon graduation, she attended the University of North Texas in Denton. Mary Ann moved to Dallas and worked at MGM, then went to work for Sun Oil for 22 years and took early retirement. Mary Ann was a GIVER. She spent countless hours feeding and providing for co-workers, the Dallas Police Department, the Dallas Fire Department, neighbors, as well as her friends and family. Mary Ann was a founding member of RANDCO, The Richardson and North Dallas Coalition Organization. In October of 2019, she received an award for 29 years of being “a relentless force organizing members of the community and engaging governmental leaders for the betterment of our community.” In addition, she was on the Board of Directors for The Willow Falls Homeowner’s Association. She loved the Dallas Cowboys, having season tickets for many years, and even named her cat Dee Dee, after Dee Dee Lewis. She also had season tickets to The Dallas Summer Musicals and The Vocal Majority. Mary Ann is preceded in death by her parents and 3 siblings, Jack Pickens Kraft, Connie Kraft Murphy, and August Charles Kraft. She is survived by 8 nieces and nephews, Diane Mott of Scottsdale , Martha Markwort of St. Louis, Jennifer Donnan of Houston, Mark Murphy of Rockwall, Beth Harbor of McKinney, John Murphy of Southlake, Lowry Kraft of Austin, and Jamie Kraft of Blanco, 17 great nieces and nephews, 11 great great nieces and nephews, a sister inlaw, Doris Kraft of Blanco, and her cat Izzie. Services will be held at 10 AM, Thursday, December 19 at Restland Funeral Home in the Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The American Heart Association, The American Diabetes Association, or The Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas.
