Mary Louise Lane's Obituary
LANE, MARY LOU Mary Lou Lane was taken into heaven on December 26, 2006 after having blessed this earth with her presence since May 2, 1926. She was preceded in death by parents Jesse and Gertrude Lane. Her nursing degree from the University of Pittsburgh, her Masters from the University of Michigan, 37 years in the public health sector, retiring as Captain from the US Public Health Service were recognized accomplishments in her career. But that alone was not what made her special. She will be missed and remembered not for just what she was, but for who she was. She spent her life as a care giver in both her professional and her personal life, with an unending willingness to help others. Mary Lou’s legacy will be her benevolence, the grace with which she led her life, and her generous heart. There will be so many who will miss her, and those most of all- her two ‘adopted’ daughters, Patti Tripp and Bobbie Ramirez, Bobbie’s husband Stan and sons, Brian, Kevin and Eric Gallagher, their wives and children. The loss will be especially felt by her second family, Mark and Sue Slater, their two sons, Scott and his wife Amanda, Ryan, and the Butler Family who adopted her as their own. Her extended family and the best friends she could have asked for, Penny Hawkins and Lois Solari, join her friends at Baylor-Tom Landry Center along with many other friends in sharing the tremendous loss. Mary Lou’s families express special appreciation to caregiver Clarisa Jones and VNA nurses for the loving care they provided in her final days. The many more whose lives she touched and leaves behind are better for having had her as a part of their world and her impact on them will continue. Services will be conducted on Saturday, December 30th, 2006 at 3:30 pm in Wildwood Chapel at Restland Memorial Park with a gathering for friends and family immediately following at Restland Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to SPCA, 362 S. Industrial Blvd., Dallas, TX 75207 or VNA, 1440 W. Mockingbird, Suite 500, Dallas, TX 75247.
