Mary Glenda Ledford's Obituary
LEDFORD, Mary Glenda Ledford died December 6, 2018, the way she lived, “her way”, peacefully, surrounded by family. She was born in Quanah, TX, March 17, 1938, to Dennis & Helen Hairston. She graduated from University of Texas where her love of UT Football flourished. On June 21, 1958, she married Joe H. Ledford. They settled in Wichita Falls, but soon moved to El Dorado, Kansas, where Joe was the Chief Chemist for American Petrofina. While in Kansas they adopted their first of many dachshunds, Gretchen. Their dachshunds were her babies that would be a forever love for her and Joe. Several years later they moved to Dallas where Joe attended Baylor College of Dentistry and received his degree in 1963. There she started honing her cooking skills. She was always known for her cooking and started her catering business 1977. Catered Fare was formed 1982. She was in constant demand for her skills. She was a die hard Dallas Cowboys fan, was a season ticket holder and loved attending the games even in bad weather. This love was not to be outdone for her love of UT football. She is survived by her three sons, Joe, Jr. and girlfriend Glenda Matchett, John and wife Lori, and Jeff and wife Melanie. She had four grandchildren Justin, Jordan, Josh and Abby. Cousins John Mark and Jean Anne Hirschi, Nieces and Nephews Ken and Nancy Myers, and Karen Parker.Celebration of Life Services will be held at First United Methodist Church, 503 N. Central Expy. Richardson, TX. 75080, on Wednesday, Dec. 12th, at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that Memorial Donations be made to the following: American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association. We’ll remember Glenda for her youthful fun-loving spirit, Holiday meals that left you a few lbs heavier, the care packages sent home after the meal, generosity, loyalty, and meticulous attention to a job well done. She had a love for Cooking, Movies, Reading, Tennis, Football & Basketball. Glenda lived a great life and will be missed by all who knew her.
