Mary Tien Liang's Obituary
Mary Tien Liang, age 90, passed away on March 17, 2020 in Plano, TX. She was born on July 7, 1929 to Hong-Xiang Tien and Ju-Mei Wu in Qingdao, China. She married Shu-Quan David Liang on July 31, 1947 in Changchun, China.
Mary loved the arts. In her early years, she enjoyed acting in several plays/dramas and was even a broadcaster on a local radio station. She also was talented artist and taught Chinese calligraphy paintings. She loved to travel, has seen a vast portion of the world, and went on a few cruises with her friends.
Eventually, she became an avid member of the Tainan Nanmen Presbyterian Church where she loved to sing gospel songs and also was a choir director during that time. She loved serving and being deeply involved in the youth and young people ministry.
In her more recent years, she was a beloved sister at the Church in Plano. She loved cooking for others and enjoyed making sure that everyone was well-fed. Mary loved cooking Taiwanese dishes for everyone who was homesick for Taiwan. Every week, she diligently prepared a testimony to share on Sunday. Mary loved the Lord Jesus and was a living testimony and pattern to others regarding living a Christ-filled life.
Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband Shu-Quan David Liang and her beloved daughter Pei Liang. She is survived by her son Chung-Yuan Jonathan Liang; daughter Linda Ling Chen; brother Ji Cheng Tien in Shandong, China; and her 6 grandchildren Jean Henric, Timothy Chen, Joshua Chen (Linda’s children) Grace Esperance, Jesse Liang, and Catherine Liang (Jonathan’s children).
Mary will be missed by many friends and loved ones. The family has requested a private burial at Restland Cemetery due to the current restrictions on public gatherings.
The family has planned a memorial service scheduled at Restland on a later date once circumstances permit.
