Mary Lou Watson's Obituary
Mary Lou Watson passed away on November 30, 2014, at the age of 91, after a lengthy illness. Mary Lou was born on September 7, 1923 in Winchester, Indiana to William E. and Cecile H. Kalber. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, William E. Kalber Jr. and her husband of 69 years, Lorris J. Watson. Mary Lou is survived by her daughters, Lori McDonald and husband, Fred III, and Eve Geels and husband, James; three grandchildren, Fred McDonald IV and wife, Margaret; Anne Marie Rozzell and husband, Chris, and Jeff Geels; three great-grandchildren, Savannah McDonald, Grayson Rozzell and Noah Rozzell. In 1941 Mary Lou married Lorris J. Watson (Lou) and soon he was called to World War II. She and Lorris became the parents of two daughters, Lori and Eve and within a few years they opened their Sporting Goods Business in Dunkirk, Indiana. They retired in 1984 and moved to Dallas, Texas to be near their children and grandchildren. Mary Lou’s lasting legacy will be her great musical talent. She played piano and organ all her life and served as church organist for many years. She will also be remembered for her happy, positive outlook on life and for her strong enduring faith; which she exemplified in her life on a daily basis. She will be missed every minute of everyday and will be especially remembered for all her genuine concern for others and her endearing kindness. She was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She could light up a room with her cheerful happy smile. She brought friendship and concern to many and was always there to lend a helping hand or an encouraging word. Her passing leaves the world less bright, but heaven just gained a new shining star. The service for Mary Lou Watson will be held on Friday, December 5, 2014 at 12:00 PM in The Abbey Chapel, with a visitation from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
