Mary Frances Martin Nickles' Obituary
Mary Frances Martin Nickles was promoted to the Church Triumphant June 16, 2016. She was born December 11, 1918 in Abbeville, SC. She married Robert E. (Bob) Nickles, also of Abbeville, in 1941 and they lived in Alabama before moving to Amarillo, TX, in 1948. She was always devoted to family and service in the Lord’s House. She was very active in the First Presbyterian Church of Amarillo, where she served in the women’s ministry and as an elder. She was initiated into P.E.O. International Chapter Z in 1961. In 1981 they moved to Dallas to be near their daughters and joined Highland Park Presbyterian Church. She was a charter member of Park Cities Presbyterian Church and a member of the Mary K. Craig Class, P.E.O. Chapter AW and the Thesaurus Book Club. She was the last living of five siblings and was preceded in death also by her husband. She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Sam Miller of Dallas and Norma and Eric Melgren of Perugia, Italy, two grandsons Mark Miller and his wife Sarah O’Keefe of Durham, NC, and Scott Miller of Dallas, one great-granddaughter Charlotte Miller of Durham, NC, and other Martin, Bowie and Nickles relatives. The family wishes to express great appreciation to the caring staff of The Plaza at Edgemere. A cryptside service will be held Monday, June 20, at 1:00 PM at Restland Abbey Mausoleum. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held Friday, July 8, at 1:00 PM in the chapel at Park Cities Presbyterian Church, 4124 Oak Lawn Ave., Dallas, TX 75219. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N.
