Mary Ann Mayer's Obituary
Mary Ann was born June 9, 1925 in Brownsville, TN, daughter of the late John Ware Moses, Jr & Ethel Freeman Moses. She passed away at home on August 1, 2009. A graduate of Haywood County High School, Mary Ann was raised in Brownsville until she moved to Washington DC where she met John (Jack) Wesley Mayer, Sr. They married on February 16, 1946 in Brownsville. After their marriage they lived in Memphis, TN, Decatur, AL, Greenville, SC and finally moved to Dallas in 1962. She & Jack enjoyed square dancing, bridge, cruises and traveling world wide. She is survived by two sons, John Wesley Mayer, Jr. & wife Bonnie, Georgetown, TX and Jeff Mayer & wife Sherrie, Flower Mound, TX along with one daughter, Dee Sarver, Plano, TX. Mary Ann was known as “Nan” to her granddaughter, Dana Rojas and two grandsons, Danny Saver & John Wesley (Buddy) Mayer, III. She leaves a surviving sister, Josephine Willis of Brownsville, TN & brother, Buddy Moses, Cordova, TN along with many nieces, nephews & cousins. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Jack, who died in 2006 and a great grandson John Wesley Mayer IV. Mary Ann was known for her love of life, love of God & love of her family. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her. Funeral services will be held at Christ United Methodist Church, Farmers Branch at 11 AM on Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009 with burial following at Restland Memorial Park, Dallas. The family will be at Restland Funeral Home for visitation on Monday, Aug 3rd between 7-9 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
