Mary Lou McCoy's Obituary
Mary Lou Cornelius McCoy went home to be with the Lord Jesus on Nov. 8, 2015. Mary Lou and her twin sister, Ruby Sue were born on Jan. 24, 1937 in Hope, Arkansas. They were the daughters of Paul and Elsie Buckner Cornelius. Their mother, Elsie died a few days after giving birth and were raised by their father and grandmother, Sudie Corneluis. They grew up in and around Hope and The Little Community of Fulton on the East Bank of The Red River. After gradution from Hope High School, they entered Baylor University, graduating in 1958 with a Business Degree. Mary Lou moved to Dallas and worked for Fina Petroleum in downtown Dallas. In 1959 she met her future husband, Carroll C. “Mac” McCoy. After a 3 year courtship ole “Mac” won her over and they were married on Oct. 17, 1962. Mary Lou devoted most of her life to serving the Lord Jesus. Her work through Park Cities Baptist Church touched the lives of all she met with her sweet loving smile, gentle, calm demeanor. Mary Lou taught 2nd grade Sunday School at Park Cities for over 35 years. On Aug. 29, 2004 she received The “Martha Howard Excellence in Education” award. She also served in The Home Bound Ministry and published The monthly Park Cities Baptist Church News Letter. Her departure from this Earth has left a huge hole in our hearts, but remember this, her work on Earth was finished and God called her home. I can visualize Jesus greeting her with open arms as she entered the gates of Heaven, saying “welcome home good and faithful servant welcome home!” I want to say a special Thanks to Seasons Hospice at Presbyterian Hospital for their Loving care, support. A special Thank you to Gabe and “Eddie” . She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, “Mac” of 53 years and her sister, Ruby Sue and many loving nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends. Visitation for Mary Lou McCoy will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Restland Funeral Home. The service for Mary Lou will be held on Friday, November 13, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Park Cities Baptist Church, in Ellis Chapel with Dr. Jack Martin officiating.
