Mary Marguerite McKinney's Obituary
MCKINNEY, MARY MARGUERITE GAINES HOWELL passed away peacefully March 17, 2013 in Dallas, TX. She was born October 12, 1918 in Hall Summit, LA and preceded in death by parents, Thomas Benjamin and Mattie Gaines; brother, Virgil Gaines; sisters, Creola Cromwell and Grace Cromwell and by her husbands, James C. Howell and Eugene “Mac” McKinney. Marguerite is survived by daughters, Linda Rice and husband Don, and Nancy Mayes and husband Harold; son, Pat Howell and wife Jane. She he was revered by her six grandchildren and proud of her seven great-grandchildren. Family also included nephew, Clyde Baldwin and niece, Gloria Clingman. Marguerite was a longtime resident of Shreveport, LA and a faithful member of Broadmoor Baptist Church, more recently a member of First Baptist Church Richardson. She enjoyed a fifty year membership and served as Worthy Matron of Victory Chapter Eastern Star Shreveport with shared membership in the Richardson chapter OES. She enjoyed to the fullest her 94 years of life surrounded by family and friends who loved and will miss her. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Thursday, March 21 at Restland Wildwood Chapel with interment at Forest Park Cemetery in Shreveport, LA.
