Mary Katherine Mitchell's Obituary
Mary Katherine (Gravitt) Mitchell, age 76, of Katy, TX passed away peacefully on Monday, May 16, 2022.
Mary was born on August 30, 1945 to her parents, Clarence Edward and Gertrude Gravitt in Long Beach, CA. She married Rueben Boyce Mitchell on May 11, 1965. She loved spending hours gardening and tending to her many flowerbeds, crocheting, and watching her favorite crime shows. Her and Ruben spent many nights entertaining themselves playing cards since they didn’t have a TV when they were first married. Then grew to love playing dominoes and poker with their friends. Enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids. In her early adult life, she spent a few years making snowball snake cakes and wearing half of it home. Then she worked at Westvaco Envelope Co for over 30 years before retiring and moving to the lake in Chandler, TX before moving to Katy in the last 7 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Rueben B. Mitchell, her parents Clarence and Gertrude, her Brother Clarence Gravitt Jr. and Sister Pat Wall.
She is survived by her sister Stella Yates and husband James, Nephew Jerry Massey, and wife Mary. Niece Doris Waller and husband Walter. Son, Gary Mitchell and wife Doylene Posey of Arlington, TX. Daughters Tina Holmes and husband Gary of Cypress, TX; and Teresa Young and husband Jimmy of Grand Prairie, TX. Granddaughter, Jessica Hart and husband Schuyler of Naperville, Illinois. Granddaughter Kristen McGee of Ponder, TX. Granddaughter Elizabeth Flores and husband Rick of League City, TX. Grandson Ray Steward Jr. and wife Lindsey of Armuchee, Georgia. Granddaughter Katherine Stahmer and husband Robby of Houston, TX, Cristy Caudillo of Grand Prairie, Jennifer Shepard and Husband Harry of Sagle, Idaho, Christina Chance of Newark, TX and 21 Great-Grandkids.
