Mary East Montgomery's Obituary
Montgomery, Mary East (Puggie) ~ born on a hot Friday August day in Dallas to Marie and Bud East. She passed from this life on November 19 at her home in Waxahachie. Puggie was the baby of six East kiddos, all raised in the heart of Lakewood in East Dallas. She attended school at Lipscomb, J.L. Long and her beloved Woodrow Wilson High School graduating in 1955. Puggie was a Wildcat to the very end of her life, recalling in vivid detail, her days there of cheerleading, great times and lifelong friends. Mary raised her children, Kathy and Bob in the Casa View area of East Dallas. She was the greatest of moms, attending hundreds of ball games, chaperoning all the friends and whatever else that was going on – she was always there. Puggie married Jerry Montgomery in December 1987. They enjoyed many good years together of love and companionship. Puggie and Jerry moved to Waxahachie in 1990 to be closer to their grandchildren. Mary spent a large portion of her adult life working outside the home. She spent 20 years at Sunny South Jo Hardin Fashions and her favorite job was her last at Office Expo of Addison, TX. She had a ball at Office Expo and loved the people with whom she worked there. She enjoyed playing bridge, watching the horse races and spending time with her family. Puggie was preceded in death by her parents Marie and Bud East, her brothers Tommy, Joe and Billy East and her sister Kay East Harris. She is survived by her adoring family, husband Jerry Montgomery, sister Margie and husband Buddy Lamberth, her daughter Kathy and husband Dan Edwards, her son, Bob and wife Sharon Gorham, her grandchildren Laci Marie and Joe Dan Poulter, Nicholas Austin Gorham and wife Shannon, Cooper Renfrow and Jake East Gorham, Matthew Clark and Megan Ann Edwards, her great grandchild, Kai Gorham, numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Her beautiful smile, zeal for life, enthusiasm, passion, generosity, common sense advice her “Nannieisms” will live with us forever. Family will receive friends Monday November 22, 2010 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30p.m. at Restland Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 23, 2010 in Restland Memorial Park.
