Mary Ruth Moore's Obituary
Mary went home to be with her Lord on July 27, 2009 at the age of 91. She was born September 5, 1917 and preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Norbett Abt Moore, Jr., her parents Tommie Stephens Patton and William Van Patton of Decatur, Texas., and her sister Cleo Keith of Arlington, Texas. Her family includes daughters, Diane Grandey and husband Jim of Richardson, Trish Turner and husband Ron of Richardson, grandchildren Kim Ray and husband David of Plano, Joel Turner and wife Summer of Waxahachie, and Michael Turner of Austin. She also had two great-grandchildren, Brayden and Gianna. Also included are two nieces, Nancy Boyd and Jan Brummell of Decatur, Texas and Jim Brummell of Houston, Texas. Mary taught first grade, kindergarten and special education for 28 years in Dallas and Richardson. She was a former member of Casa Linda Methodist Church where she was active in the Wesleyan Service Guild, and sang in the chancel choir. She later joined Lake Highlands United Methodist and was a member of the Women’s Sunday School class. She also was a volunteer at the Dallas Arboretum. Visitation will be held at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave. Dallas, TX on July 29, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A memorial service will be held at Lake Highlands United Methodist Church, 9015 Plano Rd., Dallas, TX on July 30, at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Heifer Project www.heifer.org or the charity of your choice.
