Mary Patricia Mowatt's Obituary
Mary Patricia Leake Mowatt passed away peacefully August 19, 2019, in Garland, Texas. She was born June 11, 1927, in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, to Susan Virginia Killbuck and Leslie Robert Leake. As a young child Pat moved with her family to Eaton, Colorado, where she grew up. Pat was a graduate of Eaton High School where her father was principal for 35 years. She graduated from Drury College and Springfield Baptist Hospital School of Nursing, Missouri. She was a member of PEO in Eaton, Colorado, and Dallas, Texas. Pat was an R.N. for more than sixty years and proud of her work at Baylor Hospital Dallas for twenty of those years. After retirement she continued to volunteer as a nurse. On May 5, 1951, Pat married Byron Gatewood “Red” Mowatt. They lived in Illinois and settled in Texas. At their home in Royse City she enjoyed her volunteer work and the years they raised and showed Quarter Horses. Pat is survived by her three children: Patricia Hoagland, Salt Lake City; Greg Mowatt (Sharon), Evergreen, Co.; and Sandra Kelsven, Ft. Worth. She is also survived by three grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert Leake, and her sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Bob McDaniel. Pat’s family will celebrate her life according to her wishes with a private service in the Colorado mountains.
