Mary Louise Niceley Winston's Obituary
WINSTON, MARY LOUISE NICELEY 88, was born in her parents’ house in Waynesburg, Kentucky, on March 3, 1925, and passed peacefully in her daughter’s house on December 26, 2013. “Pinky,” as she was known to all who knew and loved her, lived in Owensboro, Kentucky, from 1962 until 1998, when she moved to Rowlett, Texas, to be closer to her daughter and her grandchildren. She is survived by her sons, I. Dix Winston, III, of Castle Rock, Colorado, and Grant Winston, of Tucson, Arizona; her daughter, Wendy Winston Polvi, of Rowlett, Texas, and four grandchildren. Pinky was a 1943 graduate of Vine Grove (Kentucky) High School, and a graduate of Murray State University. She was chosen “Miss Murray State” in 1948. She earned her Master’s degree from Western Kentucky University. Pinky taught elementary education in the Owensboro Public School system for 20 years. After moving to Texas she taught first grade at Rowlett Christian Academy for five years. Pinky was a faithful Christian and member of the First Baptist Church in Owensboro. In Texas, she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Garland. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM Sunday, December 29, 2013 at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 30, 2013, at 1:00 PM, with burial at Restland Cemetery in Dallas, immediately following.
